Our Specialties

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is used around the world to treat all manner of medical complaint. It is particularly effective in reducing inflammation and increasing blood flow which helps ease pain, alleviate stress and promote the body’s natural healing response.

Used in combination with other modalities and in conjunction with Western medical approaches, acupuncture and TCM can bring patients success they’ve never seen before. It is not uncommon for patients to come to acupuncture as a last attempt at relief.

While each patient and each patient’s specific issues are treated individually, Dr. Heather has an extremely successful track record in several specialty areas and she has treated some extremely rare conditions with great success.

Fertility

The protocol Dr. Heather has developed for fertility is built on years of her own practice and study. It has proven exceedingly effective regardless of whether the patient is pursuing specialty fertility treatment or not. Treatments help increase uterine blood flow and have the effect of making a more receptive environment for becoming pregnant and completing a successful pregnancy and birth. In combination with IVF or IUI treatment, acupuncture has shown to raise the chances of becoming pregnant measurably. Dr. Heather has worked closely with many of the finest fertility specialists in the region throughout her career.

Gynocological Health

Acupuncture is highly effective in treatment of many women’s health issues. Dr. Heather treats many female patients and has experience with an extremely diverse range of ailment.

Pain & Pain Syndrome

Acupuncture is extremely effective at reducing inflammation in the body. Because inflammation is the root cause of many kinds of pain – back and disc pain, tendonitis, repetitive stress injuries, even symptoms from other, more complex issues, acupuncture has a very good track record of resolving all of these issues completely or making them more manageable.

Acute Injury

It was a snowboarding accident that first brought acupuncture to Dr. Heather’s attention. After exhausting almost all other treatment options to ease her back pain and facing a lifetime of pain from a very young age, an acupuncturist friend in Colorado helped her regain her health. It was at that point that Dr. Heather, a biochemist and EMT by trade, jumped into the field of acupuncture to pursue a new career. Injuries from sports and other acute injuries from accidents are issues with which acupuncture has a very high success rate, especially when treated soon after the initial injury.

Seasonal Allergies

Seasonal and airborne allergies are often instigated by inflammation from irritants and allergens and acupuncture can help patients breathe better, have less itching and irritation. Many patients say they sleep better, breathe more freely during the day and take less medication as a result of treatment.

Auto-Immune Disorders

From Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) to Crohn’s Disease to Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and MS, acupuncture helps alleviate many of the symptoms of these sometimes very serious medical issues. So many of the quality of life symptoms that accompany these and other diseases can be reduced and sometimes resolved by acupuncture.

Pediatrics

Children can benefit from acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, too. In fact, young people often respond at a faster pace than older patients. For younger children (tween age and younger), we utilize a needle-less technique called Shoni Shin that uses a variety of smooth tools to stimulate acupuncture points rather than needles.
